The Globe and Mail calls Charles Richard-Hamelin “an artist firmly on a unique and original path”. Since winning the silver medal – the first Canadian in history to do so – and the Krystian Zimerman Prize at the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition, the Montréal-based pianist's schedule has been a whirlwind of concert engagements and recording sessions. Considered one of the most important musicians of his generation, Richard-Hamelin has appeared at prestigious festivals and with many top orchestras around the world. For this exceptional Halifax concert, the pianist will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn, and Frédéric Chopin. Richard-Hamelin's Chopin Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, conducted by Kent Nagano is nominated for the 2020 JUNO Award in the Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble Category.
