Flamenco Nights presents SOLO FLAMENCO
Maria Osende returns to her home stage for a night of passionate flamenco dance and music.

Fresh off the heels of her annual dance exploration to Spain’s Jerez International Flamenco Festival, nationally renowned flamenco dancer and choreographer Maria Osende is returning from a month-long hiatus to headline “SOLO FLAMENCO”, a highlight performance of the “Flamenco Nights Performance Series” at the Seahorse Tavern.

With emotional and musical chemistry, Osende, alongside her seasoned flamenco musicians Daniel MacNeil, Joyce Saunders and Ian MacMillan, will embark on a journey into flamenco ‘s purest, most traditional expressions. “SOLO FLAMENCO” will transport audiences from an intimate Halifax setting into the red hot heat of Spain’s oldest and most original dance styles.

Dancers Kiriam Thompson and Rachel James will perform a piece choreographed for them by Maria; which they will perform alongside musicians Bob Sutherby (guitar) and Lisa Myers on vocals.

Due to popular demand, the Seahorse Tavern will once again offer reserved seating for groups up to four attending the evening. The special offer includes a "Flamenco Platter" menu with a house wine selection.

Right after the show, all guests are invited to stay for the launch of the Fuse Festival’s exciting new event: the Fuse Festival After Party. Osende—also the Artistic Director of the Fuse Festival and the Atlantic Flamenco Festival —will kick off the Fuse Festival evening activities with Round One of the FUSE DJ Battle.

“Solo Flamenco” guests will be first in line to witness an epic battle between the city’s most culturally diverse DJs, who will be tested on their knowledge of the hottest world tunes and their ability to make the Seahorse crowd move. The top three jockeys will advance to a final battle round (dates TBA) where they’ll spin for an exclusive DJ set at the Fuse Festival After Party on Canada Day at the Emera Oval.
