Tales of Hoffmann (1881) (Les contes d'Hoffmann) an opera by Jacques Offenbach

This event has passed.

In Jacques Offenbach’s fantasy opera The Tales of Hoffmann, a poet dreams of three women—a mechanical performing doll, a bejeweled siren, and the consumptive daughter of a famous singer—all of whom break his heart in different ways. Our steampunk production sets the opera in an alternative late 19th century world of mechanical technology and everyday magic.

Sung in French, with projected English translations. Fully-staged and costumed and accompanied by piano.

These performances feature talented young singers from across Canada and the United States in town for the 14th annual Halifax Summer Opera Festival, a competitive opera training program. This is an opportunity to hear first class young singers in an intimate venue.

Tickets available with a credit card through TIcket Halifax online or at 902-422-6278, ext 500, or at The Coast's office in Halifax with cash, debit and credit. If not sold out you can also buy tickets at the door.  HSOF Box Office will operate just outside each venue from 45 minutes before stated curtain time. At the door we accept cash, cheques, VISA and Mastercard.
