Flava is a collaborative dance party that promotes inclusivity through multi disciplines, across borders and genres. Your hosts for the night are:

Born and raised in K’jipuktuk as a Maroon descendent. She loves every aspect of music while showing and celebrating her Jamaican roots. DJ TranˈziSH(ə)n brings you thru the soundtracks of her daily life. Playing you hot hiphop, R&B, Reggae and dancehall tunes from the 90's to present.

DJ Fadzwa has been changing the way people dance in Halifax since 2013. Originally from Zimbabwe, Fadzwa draws from a wide range of high energy music with a special focus on afro-house, dancehall and moohmbaton. He is founding member of Halifax’s all-important BahNahNah DJ collective and a regular at AlterEgos brunch and The Khyber’s late night sweat-a-thons. Basically, Fadzwa is a life force for a number of communities looking to free their minds and move their bodies.

DJ 5RIVERS brings Diasporic flavours from Punjab (5aab) where the Five (5)Rivers flow. DJ 5RIVERS is a versatile disk jockey originally from Treaty 13, now residing in K'jipuktuk. As a first generation Indo, 5Rivers bridges old school reggae, soca, hip-hop, funk and local Kanadian rap with Punjabi folk and Bhangra music. DJ 5RIVERS spins experimental sounds and styles that carry a heavy political undertone.
