The Villains Theatre presents
Observatory Mansions
Live in Kjipuktuk/Halifax!
Sun, Apr 25 at 2pm
The Villains Theatre is returning to live performance with the world premiere of a new tragicomedy. Based on Edward Carey’s celebrated 2000 novel, Observatory Mansions centres on a group of recluses living alone together in an ancestral home-turned-slum building. A new tenant’s unexpected arrival ushers in an age of upheaval, forever altering the estranged residents and bringing forbidden secrets to light. Against a backdrop of decay, isolation, and urban development, the story explores the weight of memory, the struggle for human connection, and the potential of transformation.
Observatory Mansions will be staged at DANSpace on Grafton St, Kjipuktuk/Halifax, well within all COVID-19 protocol guidelines. With limited, socially-distanced audience seating, contact tracing and staggered arrival times. The company's priority is keeping audiences safe while delivering accessible, professional live theatre. The venue will be wheelchair accessible, and all washrooms in the theatre are gender neutral.
