Broadway Company Players presents Broadway: The Golden Age

The period of the 1940s and 1950s was a tumultuous period in North American history: The roles of gender were shifting, people were becoming more open to new styles of music, dance, art, and architecture, and World War II affected virtually every aspect of North American culture. On Broadway things were changing as well. A new form of theatre, the musical, was emerging as a force to be reckoned with under Rodgers and Hammerstein and other trailblazers in this new form. Whether sharing a memorable moment through a ballad or offering a comical interlude to lighten a serious topic, the musical was reshaping the way North Americans saw theatre and, in turn, themselves.

Presented by our Broadway Elementary and Junior Company Players; “The Golden Age of Broadway” is a celebration of the show stopping music of the Golden Age. From Porter to Lerner & Loewe, from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Bernstein. The Golden Age of Broadway will feature hits from musicals such as Guys & Dolls, The Sound of Music, Oliver!, Carousel and many more.
