This event has passed.

Capella Regalis Men & Boys Choir is pleased to welcome 40 choristers from Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal to Halifax at the end of June for a few days of music- and merry-making. The two choirs are excited to come together for a joint performance on Friday, June 29 in the beautiful Cathedral Church of All Saints.

Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal is a boys’ choir school established in 1956 by Father Léandre Brault, c.s.c., who was inspired by the great European tradition of boys’ choir schools dating back to the 6th century. Since its foundation, the boys’ choir has been fulfilling its mission by providing high quality singing of sacred works enriching the many religious ceremonies at St Joseph’s Oratory of Mount-Royal in Montreal, Canada. Aged 9 – 17, the 210 boys of the choir school come from diverse social and cultural backgrounds but all share a common passion for singing. Throughout the year, the Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal can be heard at over 60 religious celebrations at St. Joseph’s Oratory, and many concerts. The choir is often heard on radio and television and invited to perform abroad.

Capella Regalis Men & Boys Choir was founded in Halifax by director Nick Halley in 2010 and is modeled on the centuries-old European tradition of men and boys church choirs. The choir comprises approximately twenty boys (ages 6–14) in a Senior Choir and a Probationers Program (training choir), and twelve men (including professional singers, university students, and teenage boys, called the Young Men, whose voices have changed). The choir is free and open to any boy age 6 - 12 who passes a basic audition. It is a Nova Scotia non-profit society and an educational outreach program of Musique Royale, a music presenting charity. The choir sings Evensongs regularly in the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax, and rehearses in the University of King’s College Chapel. In addition, the choristers perform concerts and tours throughout Nova Scotia and beyond in a busy September – June season. The choir released its second CD in December.
