Combining the diverse talents and backgrounds of Jocelyn Parlee and Jeff Scott Gray, JJ ROOTS music can rarely be categorized. It's been described by industry professionals and fans as Fresh, Innovative, and Exciting!
Known for their energetic yet subtle live performances, JJ ROOTS showcases the music that influenced them and share their unique, infectious original songs. This dynamic duo entertains and engages audiences with their musical story telling.
Drawing upon both of their roots, Jocelyn's country/classical and Jeff's rock backgrounds, the JJ ROOTS sound has sweet melodies with sharp edges mixed with meaningful lyrics not often heard in today's music. Both founding members are strongly influenced by artists who not only write great songs but produce amazing performances.
The driving force in JJ ROOTS writing style is a desire to cross and merge genres as well as lyrics to evoke deep thought and feeling in the listener. Jocelyn and Jeff continue their love of all genres of music through singing and writing, and they continue to grow their style of songwriting in the Roots/Folk/Americana genre.
Recently, Jocelyn was nominated for “Song of The Year” in the Roots/Americana category at the 2017 Josie Music Awards in Nashville, TN for her song "HEY BABY", Jeff Gray was the producer of this nominated track.
JJ ROOTS was selected by Club One New Releases to film a spotlight showcase in Halifax, NS for it's television series. It is slated for release on the Bell Network in 2018. "Here Goes Something"
JJ ROOTS is currently preparing for their Debut Release Concert on the performance stage at CIOE 97.5FM in Halifax in April 28, 2018.
