Atlantic Canada’s sultry songstress Karen Myatt will pay homage to the region’s finest musical artists in her newest production; ECMAzing!
The 2-set soiree will take place at the Halifax Distilling Co. on Saturday, May 5, and will feature unique takes on East Coast classics by the likes of Sloan, Erin Costelo, Joel Plaskett, Great Big Sea, Rose Cousins, Hank Snow, and many more.
“We have an incredibly rich and diverse musical heritage here in Atlantic Canada,” says Myatt. “I love the idea of putting my own stamp on these great songs from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and PEI.”
Myatt - whose past multi-media performances include Ladies of Song, Songs of the Silver Screen, and Dark Side of the Heart - will be joined on stage by Matt Myer (keys, trumpet), Adam Fine (bass), and Matthew Strugari (drums).
“This show is going to be far more scaled back and stripped down from what I am used to doing,” says the chanteuse. “The sheer intimacy of the venue will really shine a light on our region’s brilliant songwriters.
“And, with the ECMAs in Halifax that weekend, I expect a few unexpected guests to jump in on a few tunes. The evening could very well end up taking an entirely different direction altogether!"
