Metropolis

An Upstream / King’s College co-production

Fritz Lang’s classic film of 1927, Metropolis with live electroacoustic music marks the start of the 2018 King’s College Lecture Series, “Automatons! From Ovid to AI”. With leading scholars, performers and critics, this weekly series will engage our robot imaginaries: the historical, cultural, scientific and philosophical place of robots and animation. The musical accompaniment will explore the intersection between electronics and improvisation, automation and real-time inspiration, featuring some of our finest cinematic improvisors: Amy Brandon, guitar and electronics, Steven Naylor, keyboard and electronics, Lukas Pearse, bass and electronics, Brandon Auger, synthesizer
