The North End Community Health Centre’s 3rdAnnual Advocacy Breakfast will take place June 23rdat the Delta Halifax. 

When people visit the North End Community Health Centre they can expect to receive respectful and comprehensive health care in a way that connects people to their neighborhood and to each other.  Addressing the social determinants of health and promoting healthy living is the mainstay of the Centre with a long list of services offered to improve the overall health of those living in the downtown north end of Halifax. 

Bringing to light the positive impact of the Centre for over forty years within its community is integral to draw upon the financial support of corporate Halifax.  The 3rd Annual Advocacy Breakfast will continue to promote awareness of the Centre and to create and foster support amongst corporate and individual contributors of the Centre.

 

Keynote Speaker - Donna May

Join NECHC to hear this Tough Love critic give the 'true talk' about drugs that took her all the way to the United Nations. She will share how she parented in the face of mental illness, substance use and the overdose that took the life of her child. With unparalleled resiliency, she holds grief in check and instead uses her loss as a catalyst to change the outcomes for other Canadians. She challenges the antiquated views of substance use and provides insight into the opiod crisis in our communities.

Donna is the founder and facilitator of the NGO-NFP organization mumsDU – moms united and mandated tp saving the lives of Drug Users and she lives by the motto “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” – Coined by Atticus Finch in “To Kill A Mockingbird”
